Danish Us-Salam
I work as an Economist in the Climate Change Unit (CCU) at the Central Bank of Ireland, where I use experimental and quasi-experimental tools to identify which interventions most effectively address consumer protection challenges. My work includes designing tests to improve risk comprehension around crypto assets, as well as strategies to mitigate online financial fraud. I am particularly interested in how behavioural nudges can strengthen financial decision-making in contexts of high uncertainty and digital finance.

Before joining the Central Bank, I completed a PhD in Economics at Trinity College Dublin and an Economics Research Fellowship at UC Berkeley. Earlier in my career, I worked in Sierra Leone, Uganda, Malawi, Pakistan, and India on anti-poverty and education programmes, including asset transfer initiatives in post-conflict regions, school monitoring schemes to improve learning outcomes, and entrepreneurship programmes for high-school students. During this time, I was employed with organisations such as the World Bank, BRAC International, 3ie, and Rising Academies.

Research Fields: Consumer Protection, Supervisory Risk, Applied Microeconomics, Development Economics, Causal Inference, Machine Learning
